Theosophy – an introduction

Timeless Insights

It is ancient knowledge that from early dawn Man has had access to deeply rooted insights about life and existence, the purpose and meaning of our being and growth. The wise individuals with knowledge of this kind have often established schools, ashrams and spiritual communities and they have been living examples for numerous generations and cultures. The devoted teaching of Krishna, the Buddhas insights regarding suffering and compassion and the message of Christ about charity are unique examples of such enlightened souls that have changed the planet by bringing ageless wisdom into a changing world. These insights can truly be called theosophia (gr. Theos, God, sophia, visdom) or simply spiritual wisdom.

Hidden Treasures

The great spiritual leaders have always known that people have different levels of maturity and therefore the insights have to be shared gradually and in different ways. Christ spoke about the “Secrets of Heaven” that were for the disciples and that the multitudes needed to hear the truth clothed in parables. He discerned between the inner (esoteric) core of the teaching and the outer (exoteric) presentation. It has always been so when spiritual messengers have shared knowledge about the deeper dimensions of life. But the treasures are to be found. The hidden must be revealed.

The same Mountain

If one looks at life in esoteric (inner) perspective, it will be discovered that there are many ways to the same goal. Religion and Science, Philosophy and Art can be considered as different dialects of the universal “Language of Life”. The genius and spirituality of Lao Tse, Einstein, Plato and Goethe do not contradict each other but in different ways they show pathways to the deeper levels of reality. This holistic perception unites mysticism and rationality, faith and knowledge and points towards a multidimensional reality. You can climb the Mountain from many sides, but behold – its the same Mountain!

The living Cosmos

Many of the modern pioneers of Science see the universe as a living expression of Cosmic Intelligence, a manifestation of divinity. The Ageless Wisdom confirms that galaxies, star clusters and solar systems are living organizms in their own right, and that we are micro-cells in the great macro-cosmic whole. Beings within beings, consciousness within consciousness, and all is the visible expressions of that which in the Vest is called the Creation of God, and in the East is considered the Cosmic play of Brahman or the Way of Dao. Earth, the solar system and the galaxy are expressions of consciousness in growth, just like cells, molecules and atoms

Many Dimensions

Reality is not confined to our physical sesnes. Other dimensions open for those that develop higher sense perception or ESP. Individuals who have trained and developed these psychic senses (clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentinence, psychometry etc.) are able to investigate the nature of non-physical dimensions of psychic, mental and spiritual nature. In this way auras, energyfields, life beyond death, sickness and health, strange phenomenons etc. Can be a field of research in entirely new ways. These areas have been well known for more that 100 years of research in the field of Parapsychology and they have been described for ages i the Wisdom Traditions world wide

A Purpose with Life

The evolution of Life is not casual and blind. There is an inner design behind the outer evolution and all beings continually develop towards higher states of consciousness and more complex organisms that expresses the inherent possibilities. All beings have an inner goal seeking code or sense of ”telos” (greek = purpose) that leads to a more complete expression. This is the source of all meaning: That we fulfil our specific role in the totality and work towards consummation of our inherent powers. This is the answer of the Universal Wisdom to all human search. We are here to be what we really are

The Answer to Spiritual Poverty

Materialism and egotism never leads to the elimination of inner poverty that marks the longings of modern society. Inner restlesness cannot be superseded by outer satiety. Meaningful perspectives and spiritual depth are needed to satisfy faith and reason. The many sufferings, tragedies and the seemingly hopelessness in life that cannot be denied, must be seen in a larger perspective wherefrom they turn out to be means to an awakening of the human consciousness. Seen from below they are meaningless. Seen from the inner side they are deeper teachings and learning processes

Life, Death and Consciousness

From an esoteric view of life the physical dimension is only the most dense form of energy in a series or spectrum of worlds and dimensions. Every human being is immortal and death is only a new beginning of a great adventure that leads to higher realms of being until Man finally returns to a new life in this dimension. The Cyclic Law is universal and Man is no exception. Reincarnation or Rebirth is confirmed from numerous experiences and recollections made by people from all quarters of the planet. It is not, as often repeated, a purely Eastern concept. It is true that this idea has been openly taught in Asia, but in fact it is a universal experience. The Law of Cause and Effect, also called karma, let us reap what we sow and thereby learn and develop. Our many lifetimes are chapters in our own Book of Life, that leads to the spiritual journey and gradual awakening, culminating in the splendour of Masterhood shown to Humanity by individuals like the buddha, Christ, Krishna, Zoroaster and many others

Spirituality and Ordinary Life

Spirituality is a question of Human authenticity, of genuineness and brotherliness. All the majestic perspectives of spiritual splendour must be stepped down to daily life and lived in thought, word and deed. True spirituality is practical spirituality. Walk the talk! Live the teaching! So simple and so difficult it is. Human and spiritual growth is about living a creative life where we unfold our talents through the highest ethics. Spirituality is therefore not about psychic experiences – no matter how fascinating they may be – but about compassion and natural humility. Psychic senses are an extension of the human sensitivity, but they are senses, not ethics. Spirituality is not about sensations or excitement about new breething excercises – no matter how interesting and helpful they may be – but about peace, joy and creativity. The three well known code words for the spiritual life are meditation, study and service that brings new life and transformation to heart, mind and body

The Global Meltingpot

Never before so much has been in quick metamorphosis as now. The inner and outer globalization makes us world citizens in the ”global village” and we discover that the new home for Humanity claims a life in manifold unity. A new spirituality and new views of life emerge where cultures exchange and nature is treated with a renewed respect and care. In the new spiritual circles it is said that we are changing from the age of Pisces to the age of Aquarius which implies that faith must be supplemented with knowledge and authority is given as a mandate to every human being. Every age has its revelations and just like the age of Pisces coincided with the coming of Christ, so a new spiritual renaissance is dawning in this age of Aquarius, the age of the intelligent, loving servers.
